What kinds of things can you support with?
I have extensive experience in supporting adults (16+) going through a range of hardships. These include, but are not limited to, depression, anxiety disorders (inc., OCD, phobias, health anxiety, social anxiety and panic disorder), low self-esteem, anger, stress, shame, grief, difficulties with navigating identities, issues with sex and intimacy and interpersonal/relationship struggles.
The clinical settings I have worked in have also strengthened my passion in offering affirmative, collaborative and holistic care, which attends to the mind and body. Additionally, I have gained specialist knowledge in working within student mental health settings and supporting individuals with managing the psychological impacts of long-term, and enduring physical health conditions (e.g., chronic pain, fatigue and HIV).
What would it be like to meet you?
I strongly believe it is important for individuals to be able to access a therapist with whom they feel respected, comfortable and safe in the presence of. Throughout our time together, I aim to offer a collaborative, safe, empathic and non-judgemental space for you to express yourself freely and share your story.
From our first meeting, I believe it is important for us to get to know each other and develop our therapeutic relationship. I intend to support you in talking about what has brought you to therapy and what you would like to gain from this space. Moving through therapy at a pace that works for you, we will explore your current experiences, early experiences, relationships and the impact of social contexts. I am also particularly interested in your strengths and how you cope.
What kinds of therapy can you offer?
I have completed a Professional Doctorate in Counselling Psychology, which allows me to draw on multiple models of therapy. This ensures that we can work creatively and flexibly, tailoring therapy to your needs. I believe this is important as we all hold many different identities and experiences. I am familiar with models such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Compassion-Focused Therapy, Dialectical-Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Person-Centred Therapy, Humanistic Therapy and Systemic Therapy. Within our work, I also aim to attend to issues of power and social justice.
